COMMUNITY

On September 27, 2011 more than 2,800 Buffalo and Orchard Park area elementary school students packed the auditorium at Kleinhans Music Hall for the Play 60 Challenge Annual Kickoff event. Jairus was one of 14 Bills players who addressed the students and encouraged them to get motivated toward a healthy and active lifestyle.
airus was one of several Bills players in attendance at the second annual lighting of Niagara Falls on October 7th. Bills players were on hand to sign autographs and greet fans before the falls were lit pink to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Jairus was at the event as part of the 6th Annual Billieve Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.
Jairus participated in the Night Out With the Bills which is put on by the Buffalo Pro Ministry Athletes in Action.  The players in attendance shared stories about their views on faith, signed autographs and posed for pictures with over 700 members of the Buffalo Community.
In November, Jairus served as one of 18 Bills players who travelled to Holland, NY to formally announce H.O. Brumstead Elementary as the Buffalo Bills “Play 60 Super School.” The school received a $10,000 grant for health and wellness initiatives and held an Ultimate Physical Education class led by Bills players.
By participating in the Bills’ Community Ticket Program, Jairus was able to assist numerous young fans throughout the season. The Byrd’s Nest was on hand each game and also received food and beverage coupons compliments of Jairus.
Jairus supported the local community throughout the holiday season by assisting in Co-Strength and Conditioning Coach John Gamble’s holiday programming. Multiple Bills players assisted the events by donating time and money to ensure area families could properly enjoy the holidays.
Earlier this year, Jairus teamed with his father, Gill, to create the “Legacy Experience.” Comprised of two separate events in both Buffalo and Rochester, the event is designed for fathers and sons eager to share in a stronger bond and establish a legacy between fathers and sons using the fundamental principles of football such as discipline, mentoring and trust.
Jairus also lent his support to teammate Mike Jasper, who held a musical service event with “Cover the Earth” – the vocal authority tour from Mike’s alma mater, Bethel University – at Bethesda World Harvest International Church on Main Street in Buffalo in May.
