St. John Fisher College is an independent, liberal arts institution in the Catholic tradition of American higher education. The College emphasizes liberal learning for students in traditional academic disciplines, as well as for those in more directly career-oriented fields. The College now offers 31 academic majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, and nursing, as well as 10 pre-professional programs. Fisher also offers 11 master's and three doctoral programs.
Students may choose from a wide range of campus clubs and organizations, including student government, music groups, language clubs, cultural organizations, student publications, and intramural and club sports. Many academic departments also sponsor clubs.
The College is a Division III member of the NCAA, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the Empire 8 Conference. Men compete in baseball, basketball, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, and tennis, Women participate in basketball, cheerleading, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball, and lacrosse.
